  Sergey Kolesov (b.1982) – is one of the brightest representatives of the Russian classical school of saxophone. His musical formation began in his home town of Vologda as a violinist in the class of Instructor Tatiana Naumova. At 13 years of age, he became absorbed in studying a new musical instrument – the saxophone. After only one year of study, he entered the Music College where he studied with the saxophone teacher, Sergey Kuznetsov. During this period of instruction, he was the winner of several competitions:
 
  •  All-Russian Competition of Wind performers in Chelyabinsk (1998).
  •  The International Competition of Wind Performers in Tolyatti (2001).
 
  After completing his schooling there Mr. Kolesov entered the Russian Gnesin Academy of Music in the class of Professor and Russian People's Artist, Margarita Shaposhnikova, who is the founder of the Russian classical saxophone school.
  A devotion to the love of performance on the saxophone, the desire to create music, and his enormous diligence to music, helped Sergey Kolesov to reach great creative successes.
 
  •  In May 2003 he won First Prize at the Kiev International Saxophone Competition, Henri Selmer of Paris.
 
  •  In the summer of the same year, at the invitation of known American saxophonist Frederick Hemke and with the financial support of the Grieg Foundation, he participated in concerts and the Hemke Master-Classes in Trondheim, Norway.
 
  •   In 2004 Sergey became the Laureate and First Prize winner of the open Moscow International Competition of " Classical Music Associations”.
 
  •   In April 2006 Sergey Kolesov won the " Henri Selmer Special Prize” at the Saxophone International Competition in Paris. This prize granted him the possibility and right to represent the Russian saxophone school at the World Congress Of Saxophone in Lyublyana, Slovenia.
  •   A principle accomplishment of Sergey Kolesov's most recent musical life was his victory at the prestigious International Adolphe Sax Saxophone Competition in Dinant, Belgium in November, 2006. This competition is conducted only once every four years and is the most difficult testing of saxophonists in the entire saxophone competition world. The competition was represented by 176 outstanding international participants. Besides winning the obligatory performance competitions, Sergey Kolesov obtained three First Prizes for the best performance of the works written especially for this competition.

  At present, Sergey [Kolesov] conducts an active series of concerts and pedagogical activities in almost all Russian cities and abroad. He constantly collaborates with such musical associations as the New Music Studio at the Moscow Conservatory of Music, Moscow Chamber Orchestra under the direction of V.Bulakhov, the St. Petersburg Philarmonic Chamber orchestra under the Direction of Jeffry Meyer, the Chamber Orchestras of Belgium, Pacific Ocean Symphony Orchestra under the direction of M.Arkadiev and many other orchestras.
